Nassau Athos Annuity is a single premium deferred fixed indexed annuity, which is a type of insurance contract issued by an insurance company. Annuities are long-term insurance products particularly suitable for retirement assets. You can use an annuity to save money for retirement and to receive retirement income for life. It is not meant to be used to meet short-term financial goals. Annuities held within qualified plans do not provide any additional tax benefit. Withdrawals during the surrender charge period (which is 10 contract years, in most states) may be subject to surrender charges, recovery of non-vested premium bonus, and market value adjustment. Withdrawals are subject to ordinary income tax, and if taken prior to age 59½, a 10% IRS penalty may also apply.
This annuity offers a one-year fixed account which may earn a specified rate of interest of 1% or greater. This annuity also offers three one-year extendable indexed accounts that can be extended into multi-year accounts and may credit interest based on the performance of one of the following indexes: S&P 500®, S&P 500 Dynamic Intraday TCA, or the Nasdaq-100 Volatility Control 15%TM.
The indexed accounts may or may not earn index credits. Index credits may be earned based on index performance and each account’s participation and/or cap rates. Interest rates, participation rates and cap rates are subject to change and may be different at the beginning of each contract year. When extending an indexed account, a modified participation or cap rate will apply and may be greater than, less than or equal to the rate set at each previous contract anniversary, or the rate that would apply when resetting an account. While the value of each indexed account is affected by the value of an outside index, this annuity is not a security and you are not buying shares of any stock or investing in an index. The contract does not directly participate in any stock, bond or equity investment. Dividend payments and distributions are not received from any index or component of any index. We may change, add or remove indexed accounts. Certain accounts may not be available in all states.
The S&P 500 Dynamic Intraday TCA Index and the Nasdaq-100 Volatility Control 15% Index were launched in 2023 and 2024, respectively. All historical backcasting shown in illustrations and hypothetical examples is based on hypothetical data. Past performance is not indicative of future results.
The S&P 500 Dynamic Intraday TCA Index and the Nasdaq-100 Volatility Control 15% Index are volatility-controlled indices and there are certain costs and/or charges embedded within the calculation of each index. These costs and charges may impact each index's overall performance. Because these costs and charges are deducted from the index value prior to the calculation of any index credits, they reduce the potential positive change in the Index and increase the potential negative change in the index, thereby reducing the potential index credits earned on your contract. While the volatility controls applied by the each index may result in less fluctuation in rates of return as compared to indices without volatility controls, they may also reduce the overall rate of return as compared to an index not subject to volatility controls.
