Nassau Cares About Our Community

Nassau recognizes the value and impact we can have on uplifting our local communities

That's why Nassau provides financial commitments and volunteer service support to more than three dozen nonprofit organizations each year. Each of our nonprofit partners is aligned with Nassau’s culture and values, and many offer meaningful volunteer opportunities for our employees to get involved in the important work they do in our community.

In 2023, Nassau is focusing our efforts on causes that support the environment, human services, innovation, the insurance and financial services (IFS) industry, placemaking, and youth.

Employee Impact

In addition to participating in company-sponsored events, Nassau employees may take up to 40 hours per year during work hours to support nonprofits that are most meaningful to them. Our employees can request funding to support organizations they are invested in and are in alignment with Nassau’s focus areas, broadening our reach in the community and directly to organizations important to our team.

  • For 15 years, my family and I have enjoyed supporting the Ronald McDonald House of Western Massachusetts to give back. My family stayed in a Ronald McDonald House when my daughter became unexpectedly ill during a family vacation. They provide real value and resources to families during difficult and scary times, and we’re happy to help them meet their mission.

  • I find working with the Alzheimer’s Association very rewarding. Sharing experiences to help the next person struggling is gratifying. The Walk to End Alzheimer’s is just one step away from finding a cure.. I am very proud to be an employee of Nassau, leading the corporate sponsored team with my co-workers, friends and family.

  • I really enjoyed helping cleanup a Knox Community Garden in Hartford! It’s exciting to see that Knox provides an opportunity for the community to grow fresh food for their family and neighbors.

  • Connecticut Foodshare is one of the premier community organizations in the Hartford area. I am proud to support them both financially and through volunteering. They help address the needs of the food insecurity during the holidays and all year long.

  • Working with Habitat for Humanity in Hartford was an amazing experience. The organization’s mission is truly life-changing for families by providing them with a new place to live. Habitat's impact on families is immense, and volunteering with them on a build was personally very impactful. I was able to help in a small way to contribute to their much larger mission.

  • The American Red Cross holds a special place in my heart, as my son needed a transfusion when he was born. The shock of having a baby needing such intense care and knowing that someone donated to him has helped me overcome my own fear of donating. I help coordinate drives at our office and love seeing the donors come to help others.

  • I volunteer with other Nassau employees at Steven’s Stockings, a Hartford area organization that offers resources to individuals affected by mental illness, addiction, and homelessness. Also, my town’s indoor soccer training center has benefitted from my hours spent there with our youth, as well as with an equipment grant, all made possible by Nassau.
